What Is Identity Verification and Why Is It Required?

Identity verification ensures accurate checks, prevents fraud, and requires a 100-point document check. National Clearance Australia offers a digital verification process for convenience, with optional priority processing for faster results.

Why Identity Verification Is Required

Identity verification is a mandatory requirement for all NCCHCs, as stipulated by ACIC. It ensures that the check is conducted on the correct individual and prevents fraud, misrepresentation, and identity theft.

The 100-Point Check

Applicants must provide identity documents totalling at least 100 points in accordance with the ACIC identity verification framework:

  • 70 points: Primary documents (e.g. passport, birth certificate)
  • 40 points: Secondary documents with photo (e.g. driver licence)
  • 25 points: Supporting documents (e.g. Medicare card, utility bill)
Digital Verification

National Clearance Australia uses a digital identity verification process — you do not need to visit a post office or have documents certified in person. You will be guided through the verification steps during your online application.

Tip

Have your passport or driver licence ready before starting — these are the most efficient documents for meeting the 100-point requirement.

Priority Processing Available — $20

Need your result faster? Add Priority Processing to your application for just $20. Up to 70% of priority checks are completed the same day. If we are unable to process your check the same day, the $20 Priority Processing fee will be fully refunded.
